Image as Object

I just saw Image as Object up at UCSC. It is marvelously curated by Shelby Graham. I can't say enough about it, except go see it! The Starn twins have a large piece 120" x 120" in it, entitled Attracted to Light Double A, which is a toned silver print on Thai mulberry paper...I've only seen a very small piece of theirs before at SUNY Upstate NY last summer, so this was quite a treat.

The person who really knocked my socks off was Lisa Kokin. She works in a variety of media, but her pieces which were constructed of buttons and the sewn photos were quite inspiring. There are a variety of pieces, especially of Beverly Rayner, using beeswax and photos. Run, don't walk to this show!
