Encaustic Rust and Burn Workshop-August 25th

I'm teaching a one day workshop on August 25 at Wax Works West. This class is inspired by a class I took from Richard Elliott years ago at Cabrillo Arts, entitled Frankenfabrics! On day one, Richard taught us how to rust fabric and I was hooked! Rust works on encaustic medium, encaustic gesso, and encaustic paint. We will also be burning paper and fabric and wood in this class with torches, wood burning tools and incense sticks. It's going to be a blast, and will be a few more tools to add to your encaustic tool box!

Here is the actual class description:
This innovative class addresses the techniques of rusting on paper, fabric and directly onto the encaustic surface. We will also burn paper, fabric, and occasionally our substrates with a variety of tools, such as incense, torches, wood burning tools, and more. Rusting works beautifully on encaustic medium and encaustic paint. We will also experiment with rusted and burned paper and fabric as collage elements. To see more visit our Pinterest board on Rust and Burn.
